5 Minute Planner

There are 4 Primary Investment Objectives and all of them are very important to every portfolio but some are more important than others to each individual investor. It is equally important that you, as an investor, understand that every investment has some degree of risk and reward associated with it. The foundation of a financial plan begins with identifying your primary objectives and finding a comfortable balance of investments that meet with your risk tolerance:

How much risk are you willing to take with your life savings to reach your objective?

Is the risk associated with the type of investments you are using necessary to reach your objective?

Is there an alternative investment strategy, with less risk, that meets your objective?

The order of importance to you is key to building your long term financial plan so that realistic objectives can be established.

Prioritize these 4 Primary Investment Objectives:

(A good exercise is to work backwards. If you had to eliminate one which one would get the 4 and then the 3;  of the two remaining, whichever one is the most important to you gets the #1 priority)

__  Growth: Make more money (Comfortable with market fluctuations in exchange for higher returns)

__  Liquidity:   Access the Money (High probability of needing all or a large portion of the money in the near future)

__  Tax Shelter:    Avoid taxing the money  (More concerned with estate issues and tax efficiency)

__  Principal Protection:   Don’t lose the money (Uncomfortable in the market and willing to accept moderate returns in exchange for safety of principal)

There are many investment vehicles that meet these objectives.

Ask yourself: "Does your current portfolio match your current priorities?"

Why Not?
